How Does It Work?
Using two magnetic anomaly detectors (MAD) embedded into upright stanchions, a magnetic profile of the space between them is generated. Humans don’t really create massive magnetic disturbances, but a metal object like a gun or knife does. By detecting this change in the profile, and comparing it to the signature of a weapon, we can detect whether someone is carrying it or not.
The system is powered by a supplied laptop computer and can trigger a USB camera to take a snapshot of the person carrying the weapon. Due to its discrete nature, the system is also highly portable (takes 10 minutes to set up). So, it’s ideal for outdoor events while also perfectly at home in an urban setting. A handy travel case is supplied with the machine. We do recommend that you provide a floor mat in addition to the two stanchions to ensure peak detection.
Why Have A Gun Detector?
Crime rates and freak accidents involving weapons are increasing. For-warned is for-armed so if you are aware early of the presence of a weapon, timely action can be taken. This system doesn’t emit any electromagnetic radiation so it is virtually undetectable by possible miscreants. Basically, the best of both worlds, you have weapon detection without raising entrant suspicion.
What Are The Alternatives?
The most common metal detectors for weapons are the ones we are all familiar with. They are the walk-through type that is commonly seen at airports. Not only do they leave you in no doubt that you are being monitored, but they are also extremely restrictive to the flow of pedestrian traffic. Using one such detector for a large event, such as a rock festival, means that your entire audience would need to pass through it. This slows down entry time dramatically and can frustrate the attendees. Our system can accommodate large volumes of feet meaning that it is perfectly suited to events.
